Year system- 2
The calendar we follow
is Roman calendar.
It had 10 months,
December was the
10th month, Hence
named December
Deca- 10
The year started
with month of March.
But the days didn't match.
Whole year became
only 304 days long.
And biggest blunder was
Winter was not included
in the calendar.
So months of Winter
were not named.
So for about 60 days
The months had no name.
This was probably because
Winter was season with
no outcome or gain.
This mistake was
rectified by King Numa
by synchronising
the Solar calendar
with Lunar Calendar.
This way,
Year became of 12 months.
Two months were added
after December.
One of them was February.
Later it was modified again
and counting started with
two months before March.
That's why
10th month December
(Deca-10) became 12th,
9th month November
(Novem- 9) became 11th
and 8th month October
(Octa- 8) became 10th.
Many days were added
to the calendar to
make it the Odd number,
Because Even numbers
were considered to
bring Bad luck.
Like, the months had
either 29 days or 31 days.
Still the sum total of the days
in one year was Even,
So February became Odd.
Looking at all these blunders
we can make out,
How Hindu calendar
with Lunar month system
was perfectly framed,
which was followed
and synched with,
to correct the 10 month
Solar calendar
and which is followed
even today.
